Grand Forks, N.D. (KFGO) - Grand Forks Mayor Mike Brown has fired the Alerus Center Director.
Cheryl Swanson had been on administrative leave since late October after her management skills were called into question.
Brown on Monday said he would like to find a way to allow Swanson to stay on the job under certain conditions. However, on Wednesday, the Alerus Commission reached a consensus that a change was needed. City Administrator Todd Feland admits that carried some weight with the mayor.
Swanson’s annual salary was around $165,000. She is eligible for 6 months severance.
Brown has also dismissed Assistant Director Bob Lebarron over similar issues. Last month the city hired an outside firm to investigate claims of a hostile work environment.
