MOORHEAD, Minn (KFGO) - A Moorhead community service officer is being awarded the Medal of Valor.
Police Chief Dave Ebinger says Cameron Cordes pulled a man from the red river whose feet were entangled in underwater branches and mud. Ebinger says the victim was near exhaustion when Cordes found him in waist-deep water.
The man was in the river for two hours and suffering from hypothermia by the time Cordes could reach him.
Ebinger says it's very probable that the man would have died without cordes' actions.
