FARGO (KFGO) - Dozens of schools in the Dakotas and Minnesota canceled classes Fri. because of the first significant winter storm of the season.
Fargo-Moorhead missed the worst of the storm system with Fargo receiving 2.1" of snow. KFGO Meteorologist Tom Syzmanski measured 1.7" at the studios in So. Fargo with the National Weather Service observer in No. Moorhead reporting 1.6."
Across central Minnesota, 6 to 12 inches of snow could accumulate by nightfall. Winds of 50 to 60 mph have made travel very difficult according to State Patrol Sgt. Jesse Grabow.
The DOT reported very poor travel conditions in much of eastern South Dakota, including on I-29.
