FARGO (KFGO) - North Dakota Republican Rep. Kevin Cramer says he is "not aggressively seeking" a position in the Trump administration, but Cramer says he's keeping his options open. Cramer has been mentioned as a possible candidate for secretary of energy.
Cramer says that although he'd be very happy to continue working in Congress, he has spoken with members of Trump's transition team. “I think they have a pretty good sense that North Dakota is where my heart is” Cramer said. “I made it very clear to the (Trump) administration that I am very happy where I am, but I am also available, if you will, for discussions.”
“One lesson I learned from (former House Speaker) John Boehner is never say what you’ll never do because at some point, that embarrasses you.”
Cramer says at this point, his chances of resigning from the House and working for Trump are "highly unlikely." Cramer is seeking a position to represent a coalition of small states on the house steering committee.
